Location: Lechwe Trust Art Gallery, Lusaka
Lechwe Trust presents Destiny, a major Lusaka art exhibition by the late Henry Tayali, marking the first public showing in Lusaka of the painting Destiny in many years. Bringing together key works, the exhibition reflects Tayali’s enduring engagement with social life, labour, and the quiet tensions shaping everyday existence in Zambia. Shown in Lusaka today, Destiny offers both a rare encounter with one of the artist’s significant works and an entry point into the wider story of modern Zambian art. The exhibition is held in tribute to the late Mrs C.S. Zukas, whose lifelong commitment to preserving and supporting Zambian artists helped shape the country’s cultural landscape.
Why this is important:
A rare public showing of Destiny in Lusaka, this exhibition connects Henry Tayali’s work to contemporary Zambian life and offers an entry point for anyone seeking to better understand Zambian art and cultural history.
